Learning to Fly - Salt Lake, UT
Learning to Fly - Salt Lake, UT

A new series I am creating matching poems and photography from my cross country travels in 2021. I love this photo so much, right outside the Great Salt Lake, a beautiful bird looking out from his bird house with the road stretching behind him.

There is a bully in my brain

The loudest voice amongst all the noise

I am often lost in space

Out of touch, out of place

If I lay here

On the desert floor

In between the cracks of what I knew before

Will I hear the whispers

Of someone cracking the code?

There’s a reflection

At the bottom of this river

You can’t drown

The water supports you

Like you’re floating on a cloud

Can’t live a life without lessons

Had to learn who I wasn’t to accept who I am

Can’t rely on memories

To define me

‘Cause I’ve been unraveling

As I listen to the path

I am meant to travel
